Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant found himself entangled in a legal battle stemming from an altercation with then-teenager Joshua Holloway during a pickup basketball game in 2022. Despite no criminal charges being filed against Morant, Holloway pursued legal action against the point guard.

In recent developments, Morant’s legal team successfully argued for the ability to claim self-defense, resulting in a victory for Morant on that front. Furthermore, Holloway’s attorneys have now opted to withdraw from the case due to irreconcilable conflicts with their client, as ruled by a Tennessee judge.

ESPN reported on this significant development, noting that attorneys Rebecca Adelman and Leslie Ballin filed a motion in Shelby County Circuit Court seeking permission to withdraw from Holloway’s lawsuit against Morant. The lawsuit stemmed from an incident where Morant punched Holloway in the face during a series of pickup games hosted by Morant at his parents’ home.

This latest development suggests that Morant may be moving closer to resolving the legal matter, signaling a potential conclusion to the situation for the Grizzlies star.
