Opening Day is quickly approaching, and the Texas Rangers still haven’t decided on a designated hitter despite having much of the lineup locked down barring injuries.

With a returning starter at every fielding position from the defending World Series winners, the Texas Rangers had a decent sense of their lineup going into spring training.

Surprise has seen a number of injuries, which has led to various reorganizations that may continue into the regular season. Due to recuperating from surgery for a sports hernia and a recent virus episode, All-Star shortstop Corey Seager might not be ready for Opening Day. Nathaniel Lowe, the first baseman, is also sidelined due to an oblique issue. Josh Jung, the third baseman, is approaching a return from his calf injury.

Despite how annoying such wounds are, none are thought to be permanent problems. Eventually, the Rangers should have one of the strongest defenses in baseball on the field, one that is pretty familiar.

On the offensive side, there is one big gap that needs to be closed. The Rangers have selected designated hitter as their position in the one position competition that each club is now involved in, according to MLB.com. According to MLB.com:
