UPDATE: Wisconsin Badgers miss out on No. 1 in-state prospect in Class of 2025

Four-star offensive lineman Owen Strebig committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, meaning the Wisconsin Badgers lost out on the top in-state recruit in the Class of 2025.

The 6’8, 295-pound offensive tackle Strebig attends Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Despite being the state’s top recruit for 2025, he has long been predicted to play for Notre Dame.

Offense line coach Joe Rudolph, who was at Wisconsin when the four-star prospect was a freshman, was Strebig’s main recruiter at Notre Dame. The two forged a close bond after Rudolph relocated to South Bend.

The offensive line has had a great deal of movement within the Badgers coaching staff; A.J. Blazek, the incoming coach, will be the fourth at the position in the previous four years.

Though their meeting went well, Blazek was unable to convince the four-star offensive lineman to leave Notre Dame, which now has two four-star offensive tackle commits in the Class of 2025: Strebig and Will Black.

In the Class of 2025, Strebig follows four-star tight end James Flanigan, the No. 2 prospect in the state, as the second Wisconsin talent to commit to Notre Dame.

Three-star in-state tackle Michael Roeske is the only offensive lineman in the 2025 class who has committed to the Badgers thus far.
