Gifted utility Following a rupture of her anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, Lauren Young will miss the 2018 AFLW season.

APPLIANCE Having suffered a major knee injury playing in the SANFLW over the weekend, Lauren Young will miss the 2024 NAB AFLW season.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament rupture in Young’s left knee was verified by scans after she exited West Adelaide’s game against Woodville-West Torrens on Friday.

Late in 2021, the Under 18 All-Australian and 2021 SANFLW MVP sustained a similar injury to her right knee.

Head of AFLW for Port Adelaide Shane Grimm said, “Knowing how much we all looked forward to her first AFLW pre-season, it’s really disappointing for Lauren and the team.”

“Lauren understands the hard work ahead of her after suffering a similar injury a few years ago, but she will approach her rehabilitation with a positive attitude and the support of everyone at the club.”

Young signed a contract late in the previous year as a part of the AFLW Expansion Under 18 Talent Pathway pre-signing period after passing through Port Adelaide’s Next Generation Academy.
