Vasilis Barkas Is About to Make a Startling La Liga Move

After his contract at FC Utrecht expires this summer, Vasilis Barkas, the former goalie for Celtic, is expected to make a surprise move to La Liga powerhouse Sevilla.

In Glasow, the stopper was a complete failure. Before the legendary “ten-in-a-row” campaign, the Greek was signed for five million euros (Transfermarkt), but he never lived up to the hype.

After being loaned to Utrecht in 2022, the 29-year-old found success in the Netherlands before signing for the club permanently last summer. However, it seems his time in the Eredivisie could be coming to an end as reports suggest a potential move to Spain.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla is in search of a goalkeeper to provide competition for current first-choice Orjan Nyland. Barkas is reportedly on their radar and could make a significant career move this summer.

The former Celtic player would join Sevilla on a free transfer, aiming to secure a starting position in one of Europe’s top five leagues. This potential move marks a remarkable development in Barkas’s career, potentially surprising Celtic fans who followed his journey.
