Wes Burns sends a cautionary message to Sheffield Wednesday while Ipswich Town seeks to maintain their pattern.

The Tractor Boys experienced a disappointing defeat against Cardiff City last weekend due to late drama. However, they’ve developed a trend of substitute players scoring crucial goals in recent weeks, which has been instrumental in securing points. Young winger Omari Hutchinson edged out Ike Ugbo for last month’s player of the season award, largely thanks to his game-changing performances coming off the bench.

Ahead of the match, Owls defender Dominic Iorfa emphasized the importance for Wednesday to remain focused throughout the entire game, considering Ipswich’s tendency for dramatic turnarounds. This sentiment is echoed by Wes Burns, who has been one of the impactful players coming off the bench for the Blues.

“It’s a significant aspect for us here, with players coming off the bench to make a difference in the game,” he remarked. “We’ve mentioned it previously, but I believe we’re possibly the most prepared squad in the Championship – we’ve scored the most goals from substitutes and witnessed the most substantial impact from bench players this season.”

“It’s a crucial aspect for us; if you’re not in the starting XI, you don’t dwell on it. There are no egos here, and everyone, whether starting or on the bench, understands that three points are on the line, and everyone must be committed to that goal.

“If you’re entering the game as a substitute, you need to bring that impact because the team has put in considerable effort for around 65 minutes. The least you can do is give your maximum effort for the 25 minutes or so that you’re on the field. You’re coming on to make a difference.”
