West Ham has entered the competition for the £26 million playmaker, Gudmundsson, who has excelled for Genoa. The 26-year-old Icelandic star, known for his distinctive style and technical prowess, has been in outstanding form this season, contributing to 16 goals in 29 games despite Genoa’s placement in 12th position in Italy’s top tier.

Having previously scored 15 goals in 50 games for Genoa, Gudmundsson’s talent is evident despite his team’s mid-table status. His remarkable performances have attracted interest not only from West Ham but also from Tottenham, who are reportedly also keen on securing his services.

Although Tottenham seems well-placed due to their recent dealings with Genoa, West Ham has emerged as a strong contender alongside them, with Juventus and Inter also expressing interest. Gudmundsson’s bargain release clause is expected to fuel further interest in him before the season concludes.

Gudmundsson’s affinity for Arsenal may raise concerns among fans if he were to join Tottenham, but such sentiments are unlikely to deter West Ham from pursuing him. With his versatility to play as a number 10 or off a striker, Gudmundsson has drawn comparisons to Mo Salah and is seen as a suitable replacement for Lucas Paqueta, should West Ham decide to sell him to Manchester City.

Given the potential windfall from Paqueta’s sale, West Ham could secure a top-tier replacement at a fraction of the cost, putting pressure on Tottenham to compete for Gudmundsson’s signature.
