Premier League teams including Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United are reportedly interested in Porto midfielder Alan Varela.
Since joining the Portuguese League, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder has excelled and established himself as a promising player for the team. The three English teams are reportedly in the running to sign the South American defensive midfielder, according to a report from Fichajes.

Additionally, the player has been linked to a move to Liverpool. Whether teams like Manchester United choose to pursue Varela at the end of the current campaign will be interesting to watch.

Given Casemiro’s performance this season, they really need to sign a top-tier defensive midfield player. Manchester United needs to replace the former Real Madrid star with a young, gifted defensive midfielder because of his drastic decline.

The extraordinary talent from Argentina, who has a bright future ahead of him, may be the best option to take the place of the Brazilian midfielder.
He will have a lot of opportunities to move, and the prospect of playing at Old Trafford the next season will probably draw him in.

A strong defensive midfielder would also be helpful for Aston Villa, particularly if Douglas Luiz is gone in the summer. The West Midlands club will need to find a suitable replacement for the Brazilian, who has been linked to moves away.

Regarding West Ham, they should replace Tomas Soucek with a better player. They would also benefit greatly from acquiring Varela. The midfield player is supposedly valued at £60 million, but it’s unclear if any of his suitors are willing to shell out that much cash for the player.

Varela would be a prospect for the future.
With coaching and experience, the 22-year-old should continue to progress. He possesses every quality needed to become a premier league midfield player, and in the upcoming campaigns, he should more than repay the investment.

Liverpool, however, also needs to add a defensive midfield player. They still haven’t been able to take the place of players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. They require a younger defensive midfielder who can be a long-term alternative for them, even with Wataru Endo at their disposal. Whether they can defeat their Premier League opponents and sign the Argentine midfielder at the end of the current campaign is still up in the air.
