Dedicated club partner pledges to back Challenge.
Yakult, a longtime commercial partner of Essendon, has promised to provide $20,000 to Challenge’s cancer support initiatives.
Yakult’s substantial donation, as a Major Event Partner of the club’s annual Challenge Game, demonstrates their dedication to helping Challenge, a non-profit that offers children and families impacted by cancer essential day-to-day support.
With its well-known fermented milk beverage, Yakult has cemented its presence in the Australian market and is slated to celebrate its 30th anniversary there in 2024. Their relationship with Essendon has involved more than just sports; it has involved community service as well.
Without government financing, Challenge provides free services 365 days a year to assist children and families coping with cancer. They offer a wide range of support starting with the diagnosis to lessen the load on families going through such difficult times.
Essendon players will be donning a specially designed guernsey featuring the Challenge logo and a yellow armband during the game, paying tribute to former player and cancer survivor Adam Ramanauskas. Saturday’s match holds special significance as Essendon continues its tradition of raising awareness about childhood cancer since 2017.
All match-worn guernseys and boots from this game will be signed and auctioned off to raise funds for Challenge’s noble cause. The aim is to raise $50,000, with the funds earmarked for purchasing a 12-seater bus to facilitate transportation for children and families dealing with cancer.
This initiative underscores the enduring partnership between Challenge and Essendon, spanning over 20 years. It showcases the power of sports to unite for a greater cause, bringing hope and support to those in need.
