Assault, sexual assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and making threats are among the charges against Gagne that he is presently facing in Saint-Hyacinthe, PQ, according to a story from Hockey Feed that was translated from a French piece from La Presse. He is even charged with employing a hitman to murder her.

In addition to these horrific charges, the former Leafs prospect—who played for both the Toronto Marlies and the Newfoundland Growlers in the 2018–19 season—is also charged with routine drug and alcohol abuse.

His ex-girlfriend, who is only referred to as “Daphne” in court, claims that she was always in “survival mode” and that she let the defendant attack her without retaliation because she was afraid for her life.

The woman claims there was one particular instance in which she was forced into a car with Gagne, who then threatened to kill them both after reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.

It’s too early yet to speculate as to what the outcome will be in this case, but it is worth noting that Gagne had spent a combined nine months in the correctional system stemming from a pair of incidents in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, he did 6 months for harassment of another ex-partner. In 2024, he lured a young female under the age of 16, which landed him a 3-month stint behind bars after he pled guilty.

Thoughts and prayers are with the first two victims and the alleged third victim. If Gagne is found guilty, hopefully he spends much longer behind bars and gets the psychological help that he needs before he goes too far.
