Hawthorn have been dealt a massive injury blow with key defender Sam Frost ruled out for the remainder of the AFL finals with bone stress in his foot.

Frost reported soreness in his foot after Friday night’s win over the Western Bulldogs with subsequent scans confirming the setback.

The 31-year-old has played every game for the Hawks this season and done some big jobs for the undermanned defence.

It leaves James Sicily and Jack Scrimshaw as the two key options ahead of Friday night’s cut-throat final against Port Adelaide.

The Power fired a blank in their heavy loss to Geelong, but have a plethora of tall options including Mitch Georgiades, Esava Ratugolea and Charlie Dixon, as well as Todd Marshall, who was an emergency.

Young Hawk Jai Serong, who was an emergency against the Dogs, is seen as the most like-for-like replacement or Changkuoth Jiath could win a reprieve and force a reshuffle in defence.

Ethan Phillips is another option and trained with the Hawks in their low-key session on Sunday morning.
