A tough message from an Essendon icon to Jake Stringer as the Giants consider a trade deal: “No one trusts you.”

Essendon’s Jake Stringer appears increasingly likely to request a trade to GWS.

Stringer had a contract for next season with Essendon but opted to explore his options as he wants at least a two-year deal.

Sydney and Collingwood both ruled out making a play for the forward before the Giants expressed their interest late.

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd said some clubs might feel Stringer was not a good fit for them on and off the field.

“I see players who have nowhere near the ability of Jake Stringer who get two, three, four years,” Lloyd told 3AW.

“I look at guys like Jack Graham, Alex Neal-Bullen, they don’t have the talent of Jake Stringer.

“That’s where Jake needs to be able to have people tell him that, whether it’s his management or people around him saying, ‘You should have another three years left in this game’.

“You should be receiving a two-year deal on good money, because there’s not many players who kick 42 goals in this game, but because of your inconsistency both on the field and off the field, I presume, no-one trusts you.

“There is not the trust in you that people want to have, and even your own club doesn’t have it at the moment.”

No moves were completed on day three of the AFL’s trade period.

Fremantle has put to Richmond what it considers a “really strong offer” for Shai Bolton in an attempt to get the Tigers to the table.

Dual-premiership Tiger Bolton, 25, is determined to return to his home state of West Australia despite being contracted until the end of 2028.

He has not nominated Fremantle officially but the Dockers loom as his destination given they hold a strong draft hand.

The offer currently on the table is reportedly picks number 10 and 18.

The Tigers are set for a busy trade period.

Gold Coast have pick number six on the table for contracted half-back Daniel Rioli while West Coast will work with Richmond on a deal for Liam Baker.

Jack Graham has already joined the Eagles as a free agent.

The Swans have knocked back North Melbourne’s offer of pick number 62 for veteran Luke Parker, who is contracted to Sydney until 2025.

Geelong announced on Wednesday the re-signing of Jake Kolodjashnij, Jed Bews, Lawson Humphries and Ted Clohesy.
