LSU quarterback Colin Hurley was involved in a serious accident on campus early Thursday morning, according to a report. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of South Quad Drive and Highland Road, when Hurley’s Dodge Charger collided with a tree. Authorities found the young quarterback unresponsive but breathing at the scene.

Reports indicate that Hurley experienced a loss of consciousness but was intermittently awake, with a significant cut on his face. Firefighters had to extricate him from the vehicle before he could be treated. As of now, details on the extent of his injuries remain unclear, but his condition is being closely monitored.

Hurley, a true freshman for LSU, had yet to make his mark in a game for the Tigers. The 2024 season saw LSU’s veteran quarterback Garrett Nussmeier lead the team, with Rickie Collins and AJ Swann also seeing brief action. Hurley did not record any official statistics during his first year on campus.

A highly regarded prospect out of Jacksonville’s Trinity Christian Academy, Hurley was ranked as a four-star recruit. He was rated the No. 25 quarterback in the nation, the No. 49 player in Florida, and the No. 357 overall prospect in the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His talent caught the attention of many major programs, with 25 schools offering him scholarships, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State.

After much anticipation, Hurley made his commitment to LSU’s football program in November 2022 and officially signed with the Tigers in December 2023, joining Coach Brian Kelly’s squad. His future with the team had been promising, but this unfortunate incident will likely impact his immediate plans. Fans and the LSU community are hopeful for his speedy recovery and return to football.
