Another free agent Commits Long-Term Future to Western Bulldogs, Signs Until 2029.
Tim English has solidified his future with the Western Bulldogs, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2029 season. Despite being eligible for free agency, the star ruckman chose to extend his tenure with the Bulldogs, showcasing his commitment to the team where he has spent his entire AFL career since being drafted in 2016.
English, who was named the All-Australian ruckman in 2023, has been a standout performer this season, consistently delivering strong performances at Mission Whitten Oval. His stats speak volumes, with an average of 17 disposals, 28 hitouts per game, and 13 goals for the season. Originally from Western Australia, English was drafted at Pick 19 in the 2016 National Draft and has since become known for his elite athleticism and skills, which are exceptional for a player of his size.
Now 27 years old, English has played 129 games for the Bulldogs and kicked 76 goals across his eight seasons with the club. Reflecting on his decision to stay, English expressed his excitement about his future in Melbourne and his strong connection to the club. He emphasized his desire to win a Premiership with the Bulldogs, viewing it as the ultimate goal and a way to give back to the club that has supported him throughout his career.
Western Bulldogs General Manager of List and Recruiting, Sam Power, expressed his delight at securing English’s future with the club. Power highlighted English’s crucial role in the team’s success, particularly noting his athleticism and ability to impact games consistently. Power also emphasized that, at 27, English’s best football is likely still ahead of him, and the club is thrilled to have him on board for the long term. This five-year extension is a testament to English’s belief in the Bulldogs’ program, staff, and players as they aim for future success.
