Injury Update for UNC Tar Heels Ahead of Boston College Matchup
As the UNC football team prepares for its upcoming game against Boston College, injuries remain a key factor in their lineup decisions. The Tar Heels, currently on a three-game winning streak, have secured bowl eligibility for the sixth consecutive season with a 6-4 record. However, head coach Mack Brown shared some updates during his weekly press conference that could impact the team’s depth moving forward.
Caleb LaVallee, a freshman linebacker, missed the recent game against Wake Forest due to a lower-body injury. LaVallee, who has appeared in four games this season and recorded five tackles, will be monitored closely in the days leading up to Saturday’s game. Although he hasn’t played a prominent role in the team’s defense yet, his availability provides valuable depth to the roster.
Senior running back Darwin Barlow, a transfer from USC, is another player battling injuries. Barlow has seen limited action this season, featuring in only three games due to multiple lower-body issues. He was also sidelined for the Wake Forest game and is currently unable to practice. His health status remains uncertain for the Boston College matchup, leaving the Tar Heels thin in their backfield.
While neither LaVallee nor Barlow has been a standout contributor this season, their potential return could strengthen the Tar Heels’ efforts as they aim to finish the season strong. With bowl eligibility already secured, maintaining a healthy roster will be crucial for North Carolina to close out the year on a high note.
