The Toronto Maple Leafs will begin training camp without three of their young prospects due to injuries, as reported by Luke Fox of Sportsnet. Fraser Minten, Ben Danford, and Connor Dewar have all been ruled out for the start of camp. Minten, who suffered a high ankle sprain during a rookie game, was expected to be one of the standout players in camp. A second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Minten had a brief stint with the Leafs in 2023 but didn’t register any points in four games. This camp was seen as a key opportunity for him to impress the coaching staff and potentially earn a roster spot, but his injury will delay those plans.

Ben Danford, who is recovering from a concussion, and Connor Dewar, who underwent shoulder surgery, will also miss valuable time as they compete for roster spots and aim to provide depth for the Leafs in the upcoming 2024–25 season. Their injuries will delay their progress as the team prepares for the new season.
