As the Colorado Buffaloes prepare to face the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on December 28, all eyes are on two-way phenom Travis Hunter. The game, set for 7:30 PM ET in San Antonio, Texas, will feature one of college football’s brightest stars as he looks to cap off a historic season.

Hunter, who was awarded the 2024 Heisman Trophy as college football’s most outstanding player, made waves throughout the season by excelling on both sides of the ball. Acting as both a wide receiver and cornerback, Hunter’s dual-threat abilities have been nothing short of remarkable, leading the Buffaloes to a 9-3 record and a top-four finish in the Big 12 standings.

Ahead of the matchup, BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick heaped praise on Hunter’s performance, describing him as the best player he has ever seen. “He’s probably the best football player I’ve ever seen,” Roderick said. “To play over 100 snaps per game and still dominate on both offense and defense, especially late in the fourth quarter, is unreal. I’ve never seen anything like it. Lots of respect for him.”

Hunter’s stats back up the hype. On offense, he led the Buffaloes with 92 receptions, tallying 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns. Defensively, he showcased his elite skills with 4 interceptions, 11 pass deflections, a forced fumble, and 31 tackles, proving his versatility and stamina week after week.

As the Buffaloes enter the Alamo Bowl as slight favorites with a 3-point edge (per ESPN BET), Hunter is expected to be the focal point of BYU’s game plan. With his ability to make game-changing plays on offense and defense, Hunter will look to further cement his legacy in college football in what promises to be an exciting bowl showdown.
